M\u00e9lodie Blaison (Avignon, FR, 1992) is a French sound artist, composer, and flutist based in Brussels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She studied transverse flute at the Conservatoire de Nantes (Fr), before graduating from the Fine Art School of Nantes in 2016. In 2021, she completed a postgraduate program in Sound Arts at ENSA Bourges (Fr).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her practice moves between performance, electroacoustic composition, field recordings, and the making of ceramic instruments. She works through writing, improvisation, and sound construction, approaching composition as an open process shaped by materials, acoustic phenomena, and listening situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transverse flute remains central to her practice. She is interested in the instrument and in the techniques and forms of knowledge passed on through its classical teaching. She explores how these can be shifted into other contexts, using the flute as both an instrument and a material for experimentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breath is another recurring material in her work, connecting voice, instruments, and environments. Through scores and performative protocols, she creates open situations in which sound, gesture, and listening can evolve in real time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her work moves between performance, installation, and spatial composition, combining acoustic and electronic sounds, field recordings, and instrumental gestures. She also develops ceramic instruments activated by air and water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her live recording Worn By Salt<\/em>, released on Final Image, documents a performance focused on listening and sonic transformation. Her second album, Avant Le Rivage<\/em> (2024), was released on Wabi-Sabi Tapes, following VINTVRI<\/em> (2022) on Grande Rousse Disques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her work has been presented across Europe, including at Glad Cafe (Glasgow), Beursschouwburg, Botanique and Rendez-Vous (Brussels), Centre Pompidou and Petit Bain (Paris). <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
